“Low fidelity is best to test,” says Lara.

Lara explains that it’s better to have a bunch of post-it notes that you can move around, than spending a tonne of money to make things polished, only to have no one engage with it.

She says, “This practical workshop is for anyone running a small business who wants to get their brand noticed and talked about. You will get an insight into the strategies that the biggest brands use and small businesses think they can’t afford on their budgets.”

Who is Lara?

Lara is a no BS, insights-to-action, creative problem solver with deep roots in designing ideal and cost-effective experiences for customers, clients and staff.

To date, her career has stretched across financial services, the tech sector and learning and development industry in locations across Australia, India and South Africa.

Lara’s personal experiences

On the side, Lara runs her own start up called Sundae Suits, is an adventure Swim Guide and a board member for Wear It Purple.

When Lara and her friends were starting Sundae Suits (@SundaeSuits on Instagram), she says that the product testing process looked like this:

  1. Product idea - Colourful novelty suits
  2. Testing - The team wore the suits to a party - friends of friends loved them
  3. Planning - The team came up with the tone of voice, the UVP and who the customer was.
  4. Launched with some test markets - rugby teams, queer women.
  5. Adjusted the marketing to primarily target queer women based on the positive response.
