Design Thinking is one of those terms that can cause confusion.
At our Be MPowered Conference, Human-Centred-Design Consultant Lara Husselbee shared the fundamentals of design thinking and human-centered design with our attendees.
Missed out on the conference? Never fear. We have Lara's workshop available for you to watch in your own time. Lara goes through the frameworks to optimise your business and shares how through understanding and empathy you can uplift your people and your client’s experiences.
Lara’s workshop, titled ‘Design Thinking: What the heck is it?’, taught attendees the fundamentals of design thinking and human-centred design, why everyone should seek feedback and how to get it without a huge investment.
“Low fidelity is best to test,” says Lara.
Lara explains that it’s better to have a bunch of post-it notes that you can move around, than spending a tonne of money to make things polished, only to have no one engage with it.
She says, “This practical workshop is for anyone running a small business who wants to get their brand noticed and talked about. You will get an insight into the strategies that the biggest brands use and small businesses think they can’t afford on their budgets.”
Lara is a no BS, insights-to-action, creative problem solver with deep roots in designing ideal and cost-effective experiences for customers, clients and staff.
To date, her career has stretched across financial services, the tech sector and learning and development industry in locations across Australia, India and South Africa.
On the side, Lara runs her own start up called Sundae Suits, is an adventure Swim Guide and a board member for Wear It Purple.
When Lara and her friends were starting Sundae Suits (@SundaeSuits on Instagram), she says that the product testing process looked like this:
